And so I made off to the doctor yesterday to do the regular check up for the Workcover claim. She wants me to take time off. She doesn't like how things are panning out. She thinks that the corporation (I work for) hasn't done enough to help me.
Nor did my psychologist today.
What can I say?
I hope that meeting I have with HR and the department head on Friday is useful!
Take the time...these are the experts who are paid to know what they're talking about.
ReplyDeleteEven if you don't feel that you need to...smell the roses, relax, read a book, you'll go back to work again feeling so much better.
SP
I know you're right SP but I also feel like I need to fight this and that I need to do it for my own confidence and self worth. Maybe I'll go out swinging one for more time and if it proves fruitless then I'll take the time.
DeleteDo you work for a unionised employer? If so, join a trade union. In fact, even if your employer doesn't encourage membership you should still join.
ReplyDeleteUnless the situation is very very different in your bit of the world, trade unions are tremendous sources of support and advice. My 'area' is employment law - if you lived in Scotland there would be a raft of safeguards and supports to be put in place - particularly as you may well be considered (in legal terms here) as 'disabled' (which makes the duties incumbent upion your employer much stricter here). I've just begun a phased return after a 12 week absence due to 'burnout' or depression - and the entire time I have recieved nothing but sensitive support from my employer and my union.
la mujer libre, these are the things that should happen here too and with me, we have quite strict laws here too.
DeleteI was talking to the psychologist yesterday and she was saying that it seems my employer have forgotten that they have to be part of my rehabilitation.
It's really all a bit too much.
As for unions here, they're not nearly as strong as they used to be. I've considered join because it does still mean you get support but right now I think I'll see where I get on Friday in the meeting.
